Friendship and support for military families, loved ones, and those who respect our HEROES who are serving as well as former and retired armed service men and women.
I support a HERO is an initiative located at Consett, North West Durham. It seeks to bring together families of serving military personnel from our area. We are outside the effective catchment area of individual welfare units and ISAH wants to create a locally based welfare and fellowship group. We also welcome ex military people and anyone who has an affinity for our armed forces.
ISAH was formed by Helen who is an army wife and mother of two. She herself served nine years in the Royal Army Medical Corps. Her dad Shaun assists in the administration and a local solicitor, and ex county councillor make up the trustees of ISAH. A team of fantastic people support and assist where necessary.
of demonstrating to our Heroes that we care is to support the people
they leave at home. Military service has two sides, equally in need of
reassurance and friendship. I support a HERO is a military
family. We all share a common link but in non garrison areas distance
often prevents us from taking part in welfare activities. ISAH bridges
that gap and will arrange informal get togethers and events for local
military connected people. We hope to fund or at least subsidise leisure
events for children and parents in the pursuit of a sense of belonging.
As we grow we are sure the 'family feel' will flourish and our bond
